Forgiveness And Morocco

When it comes to forgiveness in Morocco, forgiveness can truly be a beautiful thing.  If you have a bad day and you have some attitude or mood, the next day people can be sweet and kind to you.  People may not understand a difference in mood. They may question it and question you about it, but they will forgive you and let go of the incident.  In the US, it is common for people to hold onto grudges and question or judge ones behaviour, especially public behaviour and social norms to follow. If a person responds in a negative way, they are automatically labelled “crazy” instead of having some empathy or understanding for what a person is going through.

In Morocco, people want to help you and they want to understand what you are going through. Even if they have no understanding or previous experience with it, they are open to learning and helping you. It is a place where “forgiveness” and “empathy” is present and you can find in places you least expect. For example, there is an accident between two cars near my home and both people get out of the cars appearing a bit confused, but there is little anger present in their face. They shake hands, place their hands on their heart, and apologize to one another. It is a small incident, which produces an immediate forgiveness. They forgive each other quickly without engaging in feelings of anger or vengeful feelings towards one another.  There is immediate forgiveness and there is forgiveness that may take a bit of work, but at the end of the day-they will forgive because they believe in a higher power and their hearts are open to people being human and making mistakes.

Forgiveness is a beautiful thing and Morocco is a beautiful country....
