Shut Up

While I love the black eyed peas song, “Shut up”, I do not love being told to “Shut up” by an Arabic man.  “Shut up” is an international phrasal verb that is clearly disrespectful no matter how you cookie cut it.  I definitely do not like men telling me to “Shut up.” Both Mr. Bigg and Mr. Casa both told me to “Shut up” towards the end of our relationship.  It came at the end with intention or lets just say unconscious action. While they maybe able to tell their Muslim girlfriends to “Shut up” and they are okay with it. I am just not that kind of girl…. I am intelligent and my voice holds value and importance. 

It really just comes down to the lack of respect from the Arabic men.  They do believe that women should have a voice and really speak their opinion.  They let her speak to an extent i.e. they sit and listen to you and act interested, but once they get comfortable you mold into what you really are: a woman

A woman they can replace with another one in a heartbeat.  A woman they care deeply for, but this caring leads them to push you away rather than move closer to you.  A woman who shows interest and appropriately expresses their emotions and this is frowned upon. A woman with a dignity, pride, and self-respect…They pull you into their web so they do not need to respect you anymore and their true colors show. 

And that is when those beautiful words come out of their sexy ass mouths. “Shut up.”
