Saving Grace

Lately, this beautiful principle comes to my mind, “Saving grace.” Church is my saving grace and my love for my higher power is my saving grace.  Mr. Casa was my saving grace for a certain period of time.  My apartment is my saving grace because I feel peace, security, belonging, and calm.  And most of all, my clients are my saving grace and they always have been.

While I may become irritable or lose my patience at times with inefficiency, lies, or ingenuine people, I almost never lose my patience with my clients.  They are my saving grace-my reason for being.  When I sit with them, I feel like I can breathe and I just sit and listen and focus on them.  It is not about me, but it is about learning about them as human beings and what they need help or enjoy.  The whole relationship is co-created and it is always important for therapists/educators to be learning from their clients.  The power dynamic is released and people can be comfortable in the space. It is a beautiful thing and it is a blessing each and every day.

What is your saving grace in life?
