A Moroccan with A Case of OCD

In Morocco, many people share their meals together, which means sharing germs. A big dish is put in the middle of the table and everyone digs in from one angle to the next. Usually with cous cous, each person has a spoon and they eat directly from the dish and with tagine they dip in pieces of bread into the tagine pot.  It is a culture where people are always sharing food and they value the importance of eating together.  I remember waiting, what approximated 2 hours for our friend to get home for work to eat dinner. Obviously, the US is not a model culture, but if you are waiting for 2 hours, you just start eating and let the person eat upon arrival. It is quite an admirable trait though waiting for another person to share the food.

A dear, dear friend of mine has a case of OCD, which is quiet adorable. He will not drink out of cups and only bottles. If you give him a bottle, it must be unopened. He will smell things to make sure they are extra clean and he will only eat at specific places. It is so funny seeing a Moroccan with OCD as Moroccans are all about sharing as previously stated. It is not a very common illness for this culture from a 6 month psychoanalysis of the Moroccan culture.

While I have some mild OCD traits myself, they have definitely calmed down with traveling when you see real germs and real filth in the world. I still monitor and watch people when preparing food and eat from plastic when I can, but life is short to sweat the small stuff.....

Don't sweat the small stuff life is too short and we only have one.....
