One of my most favorite things in the whole entire world is when people translate lyrics of songs to me in English whether it is Hindi, Arabic, or French-I love them all. Although, I must say the best translation is from Indians because they have the accent=) When they translate the song with such innocence and broken English and they whisper it so sweetly in the middle of the song(seriously melts my heart). I'll never forget in Penang, Malaysia when my Turkish friend translated my favorite Turkish song in English. It was the most precious thing in the world.
My Moroccan friend and I recently went to see an Arabic live music show on the Corniche and it was fabulous. In Casablanca, many of the restaurants have live music and dinner-it is the Casa thing to do by night. Some of the Arabic musicians are average and can get a bit boring to sit and listen to, but this band specifically was fantastic. Everyone was up and dancing, which is rare in Casa because people like to sit and look pretty. Perhaps, what made it great was my friend giving me the English translations.
"She has eyes like the sun, he loves her and he can not breathe" This is just an example, but it is something that is much better in person. The innocence and the sense of hope when it comes to love, which is present in their voice is absolutely priceless.
