SOS Children's Villages

This comes from www.soschildrenvillages.ca. I volunteered for the SOS children village in Siem Riep, Cambodia and it is a wonderful worldwide organization that takes care of young orphans and street children.

Now living in Morroco, it is not too far from Cambodia with the countless numbers of orphans and chidren facing neglect. With a system that does not fight hard enough or care enough about its children, it takes human beings to stand up and take action.  There is strength in numbers, but also greater hope in helping these children find homes.

 General information on Morocco

SOS Children's Villages has been supporting Morocco's vulnerable young people and children since the early 1980s. Although Morocco has made important steps with regards to child protection, thousands of children continue to face great hardships in their daily lives. Child trafficking and high rates of child poverty and illiteracy, particularly in rural areas, are major problems that need to be tackled.

At present there are in Morocco five SOS Children’s Villages, two SOS Youth Facilities, three SOS Kindergartens, two SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools, one SOS Vocational Training Centre and six SOS Social Centres.
